But yet again, I was seduced by the photo on a frozen food item in the local Metro. I sincerely regretted it.
There’s a debate about labelling genetically modified foods. I say, let’s just have a label that says “Food” and another that says “Assemblage of Chemicals, Grease and Food Coloring.”
I swear to God, I will never again eat a product that contains “Xanthan Gum.” Because that’s what should have been the name on the box, certainly not “Spaghetti Carbonara.”

Oh, Nick. Lesson learned.
ReplyDeleteI shouldn't judge -- I buy those frozen meals more than I care to admit, because they're handy for lunches when I have no leftovers. But most are dreadful. The Stouffer's pasta ones like this are among the worst, in my opinion.
Also bad are the once that are labeled as "bowls." I don't remember the name, but there are rice bowls and pasta bowls, and they all suck.
The only ones I can eat are the President's Choice ones from Loblaw's and Provigo. They're not all good, but some are no bad. In particular, the "Asian" ones are decent, such as the chicken korma. Also, the tortilla soup is actually quite nice, as is the tortellini soup (thick enough to be a small meal).
But those Stouffer's -- bleh!
Oh, by the way, check this out.
(Hee hee hee!)
Damn, I wish I had a Provigo or Loblaws near me! Metro's choices are horrible, or at least mine is.
ReplyDeleteYeah, I remember the Carbonara entry and will definitely try it . . . it's really not that much more time than heating up a frozen bowl of junk, and so much tastier!
I do like Stouffer's frozen mac & cheese.
ReplyDeleteHmm . . . haven't seen it, but I make a mean mac and cheese.
