Listening to Jazz.fm91 (Canada's premier jazz station) on a sultry-but-not-unpleasantly-so evening upon which the moon is trying to do a three-quarter.
Strawberry daiquiri in hand, party people come and gone. Swimming, daiquiris, virgin and not, and much mirth.
And then . . . solitarity. But I have a can of pineapple slices, a bottle of Bacardi light rum, some Cointreau, plenty of ice (well, I reminded myself that I didn't and just ran to the store) so life can't be so bad.
And got a new job today . . . and cleaned the house from top to bottom so that it no longer looks like someone's storage locker (first real time since the divorce four years ago) . . .
So, Friday the 13th is looking pretty good to me from this vantage point.
that was Gaetana's birthday: of course it's got to be a good day
ReplyDeleteI personally feel that Friday the 13th is mistakenly maligned. I've always had good days on Fridays the 13th and today was no exception . . .
ReplyDeleteHappy birthday, Gaetana!
Hey Nicky,
ReplyDeleteJust found your blog as I was trying to research some Montréal restaurants. My partner and I will be in Mtl. next Sunday, Monday, and Tuesday. A quick peruse of your blog tells me that I can probably trust your judgement. We eat fish, but not meat (well aside from the odd little clucker). Where would you recommend that we could get a reservation for next Monday or Tuesday (and I just realized that next Tuesday is the 24! Ugh...) My list at present is just one - La Colombe (554 Duluth). Usually I would take more time to do my research, but we just returned from 2 weeks in Italy. Many thanks for any recommendations.
Cheers!
Jeff,
ReplyDeleteUmm, really depends on how much money you're willing to spend. For good seafood I recommend Delfino (1231, avenue Lajoie, Outremont, Tel. 277-5888). For the best sushi in town I recommend Masako (5050 Cote des Neiges, Tel. 735-8118) which is a minute's walk from where I live. Who knows, if you go there I might just join you.
There is also Milos, very upscale Greek place (you can look it up on montrealfood.com) and a place called Sirène de la mer but the only one of those places I've been personally is Masako. But since my conversion to peso-vegetarianism, I might just check them out.
Anyone else is welcome to check in with their recommendations.
Cheers, have fun. If you want to do Masako give me a shout at nick(at)montrealfood.com.

That's "PESCO-vegetarianism"; not "paying for vegetables in pesos."
ReplyDeleteWow - that was fast! Thanks very much Nicky! Will definitely give you a shout if we end up going to Masako, which we probably will at some point over the three days. In any case, will give you a heads up by the end of the week.
ReplyDeleteGracias para todos!
Yes, do indeed contact me. That would be fun.
ReplyDeleteAnd de nada!
