Bug!

Can any of you amateur entomologists tell me what this critter is? We find about one a day in our living room. We're on the 8th floor, there are no windows open, so I can't explain how they're getting in. Its actual size is about one cm/1/2 inch. Some people think it's a flying ant, but I have my doubts.

Oh, it has six legs.

  1. Ahem, my good sir.

Surly you know that this is an excellent example of a green-bellied, double-winged, bulgie-eyed, multi-plegic neomatoad Tibetan mosquitoe.

They should be squashed without mercy and their appearance reported to L'Office des insectes étrangers immediately!!!

  3. Well, let me tell you, I get surly when I see one of these bastards. So far we've collected about 5 of them in a little pill canister for the bug man, when or if he ever gets here.

Oh, and the green-bellied, double-winged, bulgie-eyed, multi-plegic neomatoad Tibetan mosquito was actually third in my list of possible suspects. Bravo! You'll make an entomologist yet, my good man!

  4. It's a unique little nocturnal insect that sucks the blood of men who threaten innocent chickens with Chinese cleavers. Late at night, while you are dreaming of pot pies and enchiladas, it will insert its saw-blade stinger into your neck and promptly drain you of your lifeblood.

    Keep the lights on!

  5. Knatolee, you have had TOO MANY CERVEZAS. You are a VERY BAD LADY.

(Aspirin is good for heatstroke, by the way).

  6. The bug man came. It's a "Maple Fly." It was hatching out of one of Brigitte's plants. WTF??????
